What to Expect
Initial Enquiry & Vet Referral
Before your initial appointment I will ask you to complete a patient registration form to gather background information.
Under the Veterinary Surgeon's Act 1966 I need consent from your vet in order to provide physiotherapy to your animal in the majority of cases. I can arrange this to ensure the permissions are in place prior to your intial assessment.
Initial Appointment
During the initial appointment we will review your dog's case history, discuss any concerns you may have and your goals for treatment. This is also a good opportunity for your dog to get to know me.
I will then undertake a detailed assessment of your dog’s movement, comfort, and functional ability. This includes gait analysis, palpation and joint assessment.
Treatment
Depending on your dog’s needs, treatment may include:
-
Manual therapy
-
Massage
-
Electrotherapy (e.g. LASER therapy)
-
Therapeutic exercises
-
Strength and conditioning work
-
Advice on home management
Rehabilitation Plan
You’ll receive a tailored report summarising the assessment and any treatment undertaken. It will also outline any prescribed exercises, management strategies and expected timelines.
I will also provide a report to your vet at appropriate intervals to keep them informed of progress and ensure a cooridinated approach is taken.
Follow up Appointments
Follow‑up sessions ensure progress is monitored and the programme evolves as your dog improves.
